Najlepszy sposobem na dokładne wyczyszczenie stalówki jest umieszczenie uprzednio wykręconej całej sekcji przedniej w szklance z wodą i pozostawienie na kilka godzin aż do całkowitego rozpuszczenia atramentu w kanalikach stalówki.
